A classic Canadian small business success story, L&L Tool and Injection Ltd. was founded 10 years ago in the garage of Vern and Darlene Lynde as a mold build and repair business. Today L&L has 20 employees and operates from a 14,000 sq. ft. facility. While it still builds and repairs molds, it also owns four injection molding machines ranging from 125- to 300-ton in clamping force, which it uses to custom injection mold products for consumer, appliance, agricultural, telecommunications and other markets.
The company’s most recent purchase was a Haas VF2 CNC vertical machining center, which will allow L&L to reduce mold lead times and handle more complex mold design and machining. L&L has also ventured beyond custom molding into a line or proprietary products. According to plant manager Jason Lynde, the proprietary line includes a cookware product, as well as two products that service the concrete/plumbing industry. Lynde says all of the company’s larger machines are booked out, and purchase of more injection molding equipment is a possibility, depending on developments with contracts and workflow.
