Employers who want to keep their office workers safe, without making them feel ill at ease, can look to West Sacramento, Calif.-based Bullet Guard Corporation, which specialises in clear bulletproof armouring for a wide variety of industries from banks to fire departments to post offices.
And Bullet Guard, in turn, relies on Makrolon Hygard laminated polycarbonate (PC) sheet from Sheffield, Mass.-based Sheffield Plastics Inc., a Bayer MaterialScience company.
According to Karlin Lynch, Bullet Guard’s president, the company chose the Makrolon Hygard UL Level 3 bullet-resistant glaze, out of the six grades available, because of its ability to withstand multiple rounds from high-powered handguns.
“Also, the UL Level 3 sheet is lightweight and easy to fabricate for both remodel and new applications,” he continued. “The sheets achieve the desired level of protection, without alienating customers.”
