Two new medium-sized industrial blow molding machines from SIG Kautex employ a clamp design which allows full use of the mold mounting area without interference from tie bars during part removal or mold change.

The clamp is moved towards the middle of the machine frame for mold change so that the mold is positioned underneath a trolley and I-beam. With the clamp in mold change position, the accumulator head bottom is fully accessible for die change to coincide with a mold change.

Movement of the extruder gantry eliminates the need for separate vertical adjustments of the part take-out device.

Clamp traversing is controlled via high-speed proportional hydraulics. Clamp speed has been increased to over 25 in./sec.
