New blowmolding machine facilitates mold interchange

Uniloy Milacron is introducing the new UMS 16D horizontal shuttle blowmolding machine at the K Show. The UMS 16D can be fitted for 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 parison production in single- or double-station configuration. The K Show machine will demonstrate 3 x 3 cavity production at 125 mm centers with parison pre-blow and length control, pre-pinch, electrical drive blow mold station, in-machine trimming, and oriented bottle transfer from both machine sides to one straight single exit conveyor.

The UMS 16D was specifically designed for mold interchangeability, enabling blowmolders to achieve full utilization of existing molds and gain maximum return on their investment. It accepts blowpins and molds created for the most widely-used shuttle machines and allows them to be interchanged with existing machines. The machine also features an unrivalled small footprint to maximize efficient use of floor space.

New machine line has user-friendly features

Automa is introducing an entirely new line of continuous extrusion blow molding machines, the Apex series, at this year’s K Show. The exhibit will feature an Apex 700D machine running 4 + 4 cavities producing a 1500 ml detergent container.

The machine is fully controlled by proportional valves with the clamp moving on horizontal linear guides. The horizontal stroke of the clamp provides fast and precise movements even though the length is similar to long-stroke machines. Also, the machine comes with a new bottle take-out system that uses less floor space and operates with a vertical take-out movement, meaning the merge conveyor is always at the same height so that no adjustments are needed when changing bottles.
