Chillers: stainless steel throughout

Model SS portable chillers from Nucon Wittmann have stainless steel cabinetry and are completely stainless throughout including all brackets, internal framing and support rails, assuring the chiller will last a long time regardless of the environment. The chillers are designed to allow for fast, convenient access to all critical components for simple, low cost maintenance.

Ranging from 1 to 15 tons, the Model SS units have Copeland scroll compressors, brazed plate evaporators, and stainless steel Scot circulation pumps with their own filter and liquid refrigerant receivers. Water-cooled units include brazed plate condensers, an adjustable water regulating valve and cleanable water filters. Air-cooled condensers are equipped with cleanable air and water filters.

Hydraulic screen changer eliminates gels and degradation

A new hydraulic screen changer from PSI Polymer Systems allows for filtration of most polymers with minimal disruption during a screen change. The PSI hydraulic unit has a patent-pending, pressure-activated seal which seals to 10,000 psi and eliminates hang-up areas to minimize degradation and gels.

The body is fully insulated and slide plate temperature is PLC- controlled.

Portable chillers for stable temperature control

PCA Series air-cooled and PCW Series water-cooled chillers from Conair are portable, packaged units built to provide stable temperature control in machine-side applications.

Air-cooled models are available in sizes from 1/4 to 30 tons, and water-cooled models are sized from 1.5 to 30 tons. Standard features include:

Fin-and-tube condensers on air-cooled units; brazed-plate condensers on larger water-cooled chillers and tube-in-tube on smaller water-cooled units.

Brazed-plate evaporators.

Scroll compressor on larger models and reciprocating compressors on smaller sizes.

Microprocessor control with a simple LED display of setpoint and actual temperatures and status lights to indicate process and alarm conditions.

For processors who want greater control over chiller operation, Conair offers a fully featured, flexible PLC control unit with automatic fine-tuning of PID control parameters for uniform temperature control regardless of external loading.

Temperature controller excels on extruders

Athena Controls’ X400 Platinum universal digital controller is a 1/8 DIN temperature controller especially suited for use on extruders. Heat/cool outputs with proportional control are available on both outputs. The cooling output offers three different algorithms for outstanding control. Users can select from air, water or oil cooling.

The X400 is accurate up to 0.10% for linear inputs, 0.25% for thermocouple and RTD. It uses “one-shot” fuzzy self-tuning software (step response/natural frequency).
