SILVER-COATED GLASS WILL ADD SPARKLE TO PARTS
A new special effect pigment based on a silver coating on a glass substrate will be unveiled by Shepherd Color at NPE. According to Shepherd, this new technology is unrivalled by other commercial effect pigments. The perfectly flat glass-flake substrate maximizes reflection and provides a solid base for the metallic appearance.
These pigments also impart a conductive characteristic to the end product.

UV STABILIZER APPROVED FOR FOOD CONTACT
BASF’s Uvinul 3030 UV stabilizer can now be used in all plastic resins that are used to produce packaging, storage containers and utensils that come into contact with food. “With Food Contact Notification approval for Uvinul 3030 in all resins, for Uvinul 3035 in rigid PVC, and for Uvinul 3039 for rigid PVC PET resins, BASF has a strong line of UV stabilizers for use in thermoplastic resins,” said Wolfgang Adams, business manager, performance chemicals, BASF Corporation.
All three BASF UV stabilizers, Uvinul 3030, 3035 and 3039, are of the diphenyl acrylate class of compounds. Since diphenyl acrylates are not susceptible to pH shifts, the BASF Uvinul line can be used in a wide range of plastic products with all types of other additives without adverse affects caused by these other additives

PROCESS AID PROVIDES SCRATCH AND SCUFF RESISTANCE
“MoldWiz INT-39PSR is designed to help manufacturers in the automotive and appliance sectors to enhance the cosmetic appearance of molded components, eliminate weld or knit line imperfections, and improve mar resistance,” explains Nacy Teufel, technical support manager for Axel Plastics Research Laboratories Inc., which makes MoldWiz. “Reducing scratching and scuffing in part production and handling means fewer rejects, and this translates into real cost savings.”
MoldWiz INT-39PSR also improves resin flow and cavity fill, and improves dispersion of other additives. It is suitable for all polyethylene, polypropylene, TPO, TPE, TPV and TPUs.
