The Flexible Shower Massage showerhead, made by Teledyne Water Pik, uses hollow, snap-fit beads to create a ball-and-socket system for stretching and swiveling. A specially compounded Celcon acetal copolymer from Ticona provides the resilient strength, dimensional stability and quiet sliding action essential to the Flexible Shower Massage shower head.

Flexible Shower Massage showerheads have to maintain dimensional tolerances of a few thousandths of an inch at higher temperatures. The acetal copolymer offered the best combination of properties for the snap-fit bead design and would not creep under the load of the showerhead. The Flexible Shower Massage head has 15 snap-tight beads in a neck 15 in. long, plus two end junctions mating with the head and fixture. The neck beads are molded and assembled outside, while the terminations are molded and installed by Teledyne Water Pik. The beads are wrapped in a polyethylene jacket for aesthetics and to keep impurities out of the smooth ball-and-socket junctions.
