Husky Injection Molding Systems’ new 144-cavity Micropitch preform mold is now in full production at Southeastern Container’s Enka, N.C. facility. According to Husky, the system is the world’s highest output preform system in operation today. Southeastern reports the mold is meeting or exceeding targets for cycle time, preform quality and acetaldehyde levels.
The molds, designed to be used in conjunction with a Husky 600-ton G or X line machine, are the first to incorporate Husky’s latest hot runner technology. The hot runners feature a leakproof design, a reduction in PET dust generation and are expected to extend typical maintenance intervals to as much as two years.
Husky reports that several other companies have placed new orders for the molds.
