Provincial safety officials are investigating the death of a worker at a central Alberta plastics recycling plant.
The 47-year-old man was fatally injured on Feb. 20 while working at the plant near Three Hills, about 100 kilometres northeast of Calgary.
As reported in the Calgary Herald, a protective barrier from a plastic chipper came off and the man was struck in the chest with a piece of the machinery.
Following the accident, Alberta’s Occupational Health and Safety department issued an order to the man’s employer, Maibista Holdings, banning any work on the machine while the investigation continues.
