PMC Group purchases Dow additives business

Plastics and specialty chemicals maker PMC Group has bought the global methyl tin stabilizer and solid lubricant business from Dow Chemical Co. for an undisclosed price.

The Business includes global organotin and heavy-metal free organic polymer stabilizers, polymer lubricants and multi-component package product lines sold under brand names including ADVASTAB, ADVALUBE, ADVAWAX and ADVAPAK. The transaction includes a world-scale manufacturing facility dedicated to these products in Cincinnati, Ohio.

“This acquisition broadens our technology and product offering and underscores our commitment to be an innovative leader in the polymer additives industry,” PMC president Debtosh Chakrabarti said in a news release.

For Mount Laurel, N.J.-based PMC Group, the deal is the company’s second plastic additives acquisition in the last five months. In October, PMC had acquired a line of polymer stabilizers, catalysts and fine chemicals from Arkema SA.
