Vancouver-based fibreglass reinforced plastic (FRP) pipe manufacturer Hanwei Energy Services Corp. has won $3.4 million in pipe supply contracts for a new salt mining application in China.

The announcement is the second in as many days for the company. Earlier this week it announced a contract valued at $2.1 million to supply oil pipe in Asia, to be used in Kazakhstan’s North Buzachi oilfield.

In total, the company has already won $17 million in Chinese contracts this year.

Hanwei manufacturers FRP pipe used by oil and gas, infrastructure and industrial companies.

FRP pipe is a non-metal product made through the continuous winding of fibreglass filament that is saturated in a proprietary formula of epoxy resin and curing agents and utilizing specialized winding and heat curing techniques.  According to Hanwei, its epoxy resins have a particular molecular chain structure that provides a superior chemical bonding and curing system compared to steel.
