AC Plastiques Canada Inc., a Montreal-based maker of composite tanks, apparatus and piping systems, has been acquired by Netherlands-based Plasticon Europe.

The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Plasticon Europe, which has production facilities in Europe, Thailand and Malaysia, manufactures glass fibre reinforced plastic and dual laminate products used in chemicals, water/ wastewater, power generation and other process industries. The purchased is described as an effort to strengthen its position in its core business and enter North American markets, where it currently has limited presence.

“AC Plastiques will remain an independent entity within the group and will continue to operate under its current name,” Plasticon Europe said in a press release.

In addition to its 50,000-square-foot Montreal plant, AC Plastiques has facilities Louisiana and Shanghai, China. The company was founded in Montreal in 1968.
