Yazaki North America, Inc. has announced plans to transfer technical expertise supporting high-voltage engineering and manufacturing capabilities from its operations in Japan to North America. Scheduled to occur over the next three years, the move is intended to capitalize on the rapidly growing hydrid electric vehicle (HEV) market.
"Hybrid vehicles have an increasingly bright future in the U.S. market place," said George Perry, president and CEO, Yazaki North America. "It makes good business sense for us to leverage our existing corporate knowledge and experience to develop a strong local capabilityto our customers."
The transfer of high-voltage capabilities from Japan to the North American market will take place in three phases, with the goal being to begin manufacturing selected high-voltage products, such as cables and wire harnesses in North America.
