Tyco Plastics LLP has announced plans to shut down two plastic film-making facilities. The two plants, based in Macedon, NY and Webster, NY, will be closed on July 2, 2004, affecting about 200 employees. The closings are part of a larger restructuring plan announced by parent Tyco International Ltd., including the elimination of 7,200 jobs worldwide.
"We simply have too many facilities making too much film," said Tyco spokesman Jay Pomeroy in a report published by Omnexus.
Tyco Plastics is a major producer of duct tape, trash bags and stretch film In the United States.
