The Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc. (SPI) has appointed Al Damico as executive vice president.

The Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc. (SPI) has appointed Al Damico as executive vice president.

Damico assumes the number two position at the trade association as of September 8, 2008, according to SPI President and CEO William Carteaux.

Damico will oversee the work of SPI staff and leadership in managing SPI’s three councils formed last year to meet the specialized needs of the industry sectors represented by its membership: equipment manufacturers, material suppliers and processors. Damico will also oversee management of SPI’s four regional offices and membership activities. He fills the position vacated by Catherine Randazzo, who left SPI in May.

“Al draws on a plastics industry background that is broad and deep, covering a wide range of executive, engineering and marketing responsibilities for various material suppliers,” said Carteaux. “He brings valuable experience along with a passion to identify and implement constructive change to insure SPI’s future success and relevancy.”
