Shell finds large natural gas deposit

Shell Canada Ltd. announced it has found the largest natural gas deposit in Western Canada in two decades. Shell said the discovery could contain up to 800 billion cubic feet of raw gas, with up to 500 billion cubic feet of saleable reserves, according to a report carried in the Globe and Mail. The reserve is 500 times as large as the current average in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. Shell estimates the field will produce 30 million cubic feet a day in gas. Production should begin by the middle of next year.
