A rapid injection molding firm, The Protomold Company (Maple Plain, MN), will be making its low-volume production and prototyping capabilities available to Canadians next month.
To use Protomold’s services, customers submit 3D CAD files of a plastic part through Protomold’s Web site. Within one business day or less, the customer will receive a cost quote.
Protomold has the capabilities to rapidly design and produce from about 25 up to several thousand parts and deliver them to the customer within 10 to 15 business days, said Bradley A. Cleveland, president and CEO of Protomold. For a premium, delivery can be as fast as three business days, depending upon the size and complexity of the part, he added.
Additionally, the company is increasing its manufacturing capabilities by 50% in North America and is opening up a facility in the UK to support its growing business, Protomold said.
