PolyOne opens engineered materials division

Global polymer supplier PolyOne Corporation has introduced the Specialty Engineered Materials Segment, which includes the recently acquired GLS Corp. and the former North American Engineered Materials operating segment.

The new segment will report to Craig Nikrant, the vice president and general manager of PolyOne, the company said.

“The Specialty Engineered Materials segment reflects a strategic shift toward specialization and the transformation of this core business into a specialty solutions provider of engineering thermoplastics,” said Stephen Newlin, the chairman, president and CEO of PolyOne. “With the acquisition of GLS, the Specialty Engineered Materials business could capitalize on escalating global demand for soft-touch products in many specialized, high-growth markets — including healthcare, aerospace, electronics, consumer and biopolymers.”
