Packaging and glass manufacturer Owens-Illinois has announced it will be conducting a strategic review of certain blow-molding and injection molding operations in North and South America, as well as in Europe. The review, which will be conducted with the assistance of consultants, is aimed at exploring all options in maximizing value to O-I investors, according to a company release.
“We are confident that our blow-molded plastic business is an attractive franchise and, like our global glass operations, has significant value. We believe there may be a number of ways for us to benefit our investors as a result of this strategic review,” said Terry L. Wilkison, O-I executive vice president and general manager of the plastics division.
Owens-Illinois is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of glass containers and is also a global manufacturer of plastic consumer packaging such as blow-molded containers and injection molded closures for various markets. The company operates over 40 consumer product manufacturing facilities in the U.S. and Mexico, inlcuding four glass bottle plants in Canada.
