The plastics industry in Ontario continues to go through severe turbulence, and an Ontario breakfast briefing organized by the Ontario committee of the Canadian Plastics Industry Association will examine the current economic situation from two perspectives.
The seminar is scheduled for Wednesday, April 1 from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at the Fairfield Hotel and Suites Toronto Airport.
Bill Empey, an economist for Prism Economics and Analysis, will deliver the 2008 CPIA Markets and Trends Report, highlighting the key trends in the plastics industry — shipments, GDP, employment, imports and exports — and place them in context of the last several years.
Empey will also present data showing the health of key markets, and how they may drive future growth.
Additionally, Vince De Luca, managing director of corporate finance at Price Waterhouse Coopers will review key survival tactics for companies facing liquidity and capital investment issues. Topics of discussion will include information systems, cost base management, contingency planning, business scaling approaches and stakeholder relations.
