New vision, new name for Unigraphics

Unigraphics Solutions Inc. has changed its name to UGS to reflect a new corporate vision and greatly expanded software and service offerings, beyond its flagship CAD/CAM/CAE software, unigraphics.
To address the market for collaborative commerce, UGS has defined six key business requirements that must functionally “weave” together to enable c-commerce for manufacturers. The company then divides these business categories into two broad sets of offerings. UGS’ new Solution set contains Product Development, Virtual Manufacturing and Fulfillment while its new Platform set includes Collaboration, Lifecycle Management and Interoperability.
One unique aspect of UGS’ new strategy is the company’s emphasis on interoperability and open solutions.
