New Dow president aims for short-term recovery and long-term value

The new president and COO of Dow Chemical Co., Andrew Liveris, is charged with leading a strategic review of the company with a view to long-term strategy and shareholder value, says outgoing president William Stavropoulos. Stavropoulos will continue as chairman and CEO of Dow.
Liveris was formerly business group president, performance chemicals, with Dow. In his new role, he will also continue to focus on Dow’s action plan for financial recovery.
"Underpinning this appointment will be a dedication to our short-term action plan for controlling expenses and strengthening our price and volume position in the marketplace to improve earnings and cash flow," says Stavropoulos.
