The manufacturing facility of Dexx Corporation, a composite decking producer, was the site of an intense fire that occupied much of Toronto’s fire department through the night of March 30. The blaze began around 6 pm and was still smoldering the next day.
Dexx extrudes composite decking made from post-industrial plastic and cellulose fibre. According to media reports, there was recycled plastic and wood pallets at the site. The plant is located in an industrial park in the Etobicoke area. All employees are believed to have escaped unharmed.
Dexx is owned by The Futura Corporation of Vancouver, BC, which distributes and markets building materials.
