A veteran association manager, Serge Lavoie, has been chosen as the new president and chief executive officer for the Canadian Plastics Industry Association. Lavoie will replace current president Pierre G. Dubois, who will retire April 1, 2003.
"Serge Lavoie was the unanimous choice from a long and distinguished list of candidates," said Paul Cohen, chair of CPIA’s Board of Directors. "We are confident that he has the management skills and association experience to successfully represent our association on issues of importance to our members and their key stakeholders.
Lavoie has a 23-year background managing not-for-profit associations. He has been with the Canadian Community Newspaper Association, a federation of regional associations representing 680 community newspapers, for four years. Prior to that he was executive director or national manager of five other national organizations.
The Canadian Plastics Industry Association is an industry trade association dedicated to advancing the prosperity and international competitiveness of the plastics industry in Canada. It has offices in Atlantic Canada, Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia.
