Johnson Controls Inc. has announced it will be moving sun visor production from two plants in Michigan and Kentucky to Mexico over the next 18 months, according to a report by Reuters. The move, which will begin to be implemented this summer, will eventually result in the cutting of 1065 jobs at Johnson plants in Holland, MI and Glasgow, KY.
Company management informed workers of the decision on Monday. The company said it would try to place the employees within the company or help them with job searches. The company’s Glasgow plant will continue to produce overhead consoles and cargo load floors. The Holland plant will continue to produce door panels, according to company officials.
Johnson Controls has several production facilities in Canada.
