Italy’s Piovan, one of Europe’s largest auxiliary equipment makers, has purchased Universal Dynamics Inc., a U.S.-based maker of material conveying and equipment, dryers, loaders, feeders and granulators.

Piovan is buying the Woodbridge, Va.-based Universal Dynamics from Mann+Hummel of Ludwigsburg, Germany.

Piovan is an auxiliary equipment supplier that makes materials-handling equipment, dryers, dosers, temperature controllers, chillers, mold dryers and granulators. The company has factories at its headquarters near Venice in Santa Maria di Sala; Osasco, Brazil; and Shanghai. Piovan has a Canadian sales and service site in Mississauga, Ont.

Universal Dynamics is represented in Canada by Mississauga-based Hamilton Avtec Inc., and by Resource Polytec Inc. of Vancouver.
