The president of MAC Closures Inc. (Waterloo, QC) has received a Canplast Award from the Canadian Plastics Industry Association for his contribution to the industry. Decelles showed “extraordinary leadership” which resulted in the establishment of a Chair for plastics within the faculty of engineering at Laval University in Quebec, QC.
The award was presented during CPIA’s annual gala on June 2. CPIA executive director Pierre Dubois noted that Decelles was the initiator of activities that resulted in pledges totaling $1.3 million over five years for an undergraduate program in plastics at the university.
MAC Closures supplies closures for the food, personal care and pharmaceutical industries, and supplies other specialized molded products. It has grown in recent years through the acquisition of a Canadian competitor and an alliance with Delatour S.A. of Europe. Under Decelles’ leadership, the company has invested significantly in human resources development, automated inspection equipment, assembly equipment, and most recently, expanded its office and laboratory space.
