Atlanta-based vinyl compound manufacturer Georgia Gulf has announced that it will consolidate Royal Group‘s Canadian-based patio door fabrication facility and an additional Canadian cellular extrusion facility.

Production at the company’s Woodbridge, Ont.-based patio door fabrication will be consolidated into a Montreal, Que. patio door plant. Additionally, the Woodbridge, Ont.-based cellular trim extrusion facility will be consolidated into a Marion, Va.-based plant.

The Atlanta company acquired Royal Group a year ago, and acted to rapidly optimize manufacturing operations and improve finances.

“Since acquiring Royal Group a year ago, we have improved productivity in our window and profile plants, while at the time significantly increasing capacity utilization,” noted Georgia Gulf’s VP of Custom Products Bill Doherty. “The window and door profile plants we now retain house our most advanced technology, and are situated in the locations best suited to serve our expanded customer base.”

Doherty noted that patio door inventory will be stocked in Toronto to provide “high levels of service” to the company’s customers.

In addition to cost savings since the acquisition, Georgia Gulf has also focused on securing additional customers and introducing new products.
