Midland-Mich.-based Peroxymeric Chemicals, a business unit of Epoxy Products and Intermediates (EP&I) of The Dow Chemical Company, announced it has declared ‘force majeure’ for all products.
The products under the directive include Cyracure cycloaliphatic epoxides, Flexol epoxidized soybean and linseed oils, and Tone polyols, polymers and monomers.
Dow produces all PXC products using raw materials from a plant at the Union Carbide facilities at St. Charles Operations in Hahnville, La.
Joerg Duebel, PXC product managers with Dow EP&I said in a release the operations at the plant were halted because of the impact of hurricane Katrina. He could not say when operations might get back online.
Dow expects the ‘force majeure’ to stay in effect until operations and transportation issues are resolved.
