Auto parts maker Delphi Corp. said it will cut 8,500 jobs from its global work force as part of a major restructuring next year. The company has already eliminated over 9,000 jobs in the first nine months of 2004.
Delphi, the world’s largest automotive supplier, is expected to lose about $350 million this year. Of the 8,500 announced job cuts, Delphi said 3,000 were expected to be U.S. hourly employees, and 5,500 would be from other operations.
