Polystyrene manufacturer Dart Polymers Incorporated is investing US$ 9.5 to expand its Owensboro, Ky., plant.
The expansion, which is expected to be completed by late 2007, will add 16,000 square feet to the 260,000-square-foot facility and create 15 full time jobs.
“There will be a need for additional process control operators, instrument and control technicians, engineering support and maintenance technicians,” Rob Ebelhar, plant manager, said.
The project is the latest in a series of expansions at the Dart Polymers facility. In 1989, the company invested $20 million to add 120,000 square feet to the plant; in 1999, it invested a further $7.5 million to expand the facility again.
Dart Polymers is a division of Dart Container Corporation, a food packaging manufacturer based in Mason, Mich.
