The Canadian Plastics Industry Association (CPIA) has reached an agreement with Messe Dusseldorf (Canada) for the latter to organize the Canadian Pavilion at the K 2010 show in Germany.

K is the premier worldwide event for the plastics and rubber sectors, and is expected to bring over 2,500 exhibitors and 230,000 visitors from over 100 countries to Dusseldorf in October of 2010.

“The economically troubled times seem to have had no impact on the registration levels at this time and the show is expected to be fully booked at the end of May 2009, the official registration deadline for the event,” said Stefan Egge, who represents Messe Dusseldorf, the show’s owner, in Canada. “Companies that wish to book their own space at the show are urged to submit their application to Messe Dusseldorf (Canada) in advance of the deadline date.”

According to a news release, the CPIA – which organized three national pavilions at K from 1998 to 2004 – has a commitment to ensuring the continued presence of a Canadian national pavilion at K. For the most recent show, in 2007, CPIA took over the role as national sponsor, endorsing K and the Messe Dusseldorf (Canada) team based in Toronto.

”In order to maintain the continuity of successful Canadian participation at K, both the preferential rates for CPIA members, and the guiding principle of space allocation through a space draw, will be retained,” the CPIA said.

The CPIA will continue to offer poster and literature display opportunities within its information booth at the show, but will not handle space registration or allocation for the pavilion at K 2010.

The show runs from October 27 to November 11 next year. Enquiries should be addressed directly to Stefan Egge at (416) 598-1524 or messeduesseldorf@germanchamber.ca.
