Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME) president Jayson Myers will be speaking at the Empire Club in Toronto on October 2 about the future of manufacturing in Canada.

Myers’ message will be that manufacturing is a vital part of the Canadian economy, and that the economic future of the sector is in jeopardy as a result of dollar appreciation, rising energy and commodity costs, and now the downturn in key U.S. export markets.

Myers will also talk about the business environment that manufacturers need in order to make the investments they need in innovation, new technologies and workforce development.

Coming near the end of the election campaign, Myers is hoping to use the speech to raise awareness about priority issues for manufacturers and exporters.
