Citing better value for customers and advanced technology, packaging equipment supplier Graphics International Group (Markham, ON) has allied its blow molding machinery business with Akei Holdings, a manufacturer of blow molding equipment based in Kaiping, China. The new company, Akei-GIG Blowmold Technologies, will serve Canada, the US, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America and Europe.
"GIG made the decision to supply Akei equipment instead of Magic machinery (GIG’s former machinery partner) because of the enormous technical advances made by Akei in its equipment, especially in its linear and long-stroke technology, which now equals or surpasses that available from European suppliers," Michael Merrick, president title of GIG, said in an announcement of the new alliance.
Akei-GIG will continue to service Magic customers in North America who had been supplied by Magic North America, a former subsidiary of GIG.
Akei-GIG can supply a wide range of extrusion blow molding equipment, for applications ranging in size from 5 ml to 1000 L, including an economical line of extrusion blow molders; an industrial line with shuttle and accumulator heads; a full range of linear and long-stroke high-cavity equipment; an in-mold labelling program; PET two-stage equipment; molds for extrusion blow molding, PET and preforms; leak testers; and materials handling package.
