Judith Nancekivell, senior publisher of Canadian Plastics magazine, has been selected as one of this year’s CanPlast Award winners by the Canadian Plastics Industry Association (CPIA).
Also selected for 2009 CanPlast Awards are Sally Damstra, director of trade promotion with the CPIA; Joe Giglio, president of Innisfil, Ont.-based flexible packager Tempo Plastics Limited; and Mark Lichtblau, vice president, Haremar Plastic Manufacturing Limited, a Concord, Ont.-based plastic film and sheet manufacturer.
According to the CPIA, CanPlast Awards have been given out on a continuous basis since 1977, with more than 80 industry contributors having been honoured in that time. “CanPlast winners contribute their time, energy and expertise to improving the competitive and environmental performance of the Canadian plastics industry,” the CPIA said in a statement. “They have been active volunteers in association and industry committees, boards and task groups. They are recognized by their peers as having made a positive contribution to the health of the industry either through teamwork or leadership or both.”
The awards will be presented, along with the Leader of the Year Award to Dave Birkby of Westbridge PET Containers, as part of the CPIA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Awards Luncheon on June 17.
