The sustained growth curve of CPI Plastics Group, a Canadian extruder of both film and profiles, has vaulted the company over the border to begin US-based manufacturing. CPI will celebrate next week the opening of its first production facility in the United States, a film extrusion plant in Pleasant Prairie, WI.
"This technically advanced facility will afford us the opportunity to effectively compete in the film products industry," says Peter Clark, CEO.
CPI announced in January that it had chosen to build the new manufacturing facility in Wisconsin. The plant houses some new extrusion lines, and some equipment transferred from the former production site of Mid-America Bag, for a total of 16 extrusion lines. CPI purchased the manufacturing business of Mid America Bag in 2002.
The January announcement said the Wisconsin plant would house extrusion operations, assembly, warehousing and distribution functions in a 100,000 sq. ft. plant.
CPI’s film products group manufactures a proprietary line of household refuse bags, plus a range of private label and branded household and industrial refuse bags.
