Bill Wybenga has relinquished his post as president and CEO of Brampton Engineering, resulting in a change of leadership at the manufacturer of blown-film equipment. The company’s board of directors has appointed R.L. (Bud) Smith as the new president and CEO, effective September 16. Wybenga will continue to serve as a shareholder and a member of the board of directors.
Wybenga, who has been in the top post at Brampton for the past 20 years, was instrumental in developing and marketing the company’s widely-used Streamline Co-extrusion Die (SCD) system to make multi-layer film structures. Wybenga says his departure from the company has been carefully planned over the last few years in order to make the leadership transition a smooth one.
“The ownership of the company has not changed,” Wybenga reports. “We’re happy we have Bud Smith on board with his significant experience in the plastics industry.”Smith was most recently president and CEO of Acatris Inc., a supplier of food and health ingredients. Prior to that, Smith was president and CEO of PCL Plastics Corporation, a position he assumed after a lengthy career with DuPont Canada.
