Brick Brewery of Waterloo, ON, is the first brewer in Canada to package beer in a plastic bottle. "This innovative and unique wide-mouth plastic beer bottle has taken years to develop and test, and we are delighted to be the first to bring it to Canada," says Jim Brickman, president and founder of Brick Brewery.
Brick will release its Yellow Label Lager beer in the 473 ml (16 oz.) polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle. The beer will be sold in packs of four, initially in southern Ontario and later to the rest of the province.
The PET bottle is recyclable and can be returned to the Beer Store outlets for deposit. The brewery also points out the plastic bottle is re-sealable, unbreakable, lightweight and it chills more quickly and stays cold longer than glass.
