Basell to relocate N. American headquarters

Polyolefin supplier Basell has announced plans to relocate its North American headquarters from Elkton, Md., to a new fit-for-purpose facility in a yet-to-be-determined location.

The new facility will be the main location for all Basell commercial and administrative activity in North America, the company said.

We are currently evaluating sites in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware, as well as the possibility of moving some functions to our manufacturing plants near the U.S. Gulf Coast, Michael Mulrooney, president of Basell North America, said.

Basell currently employs approximately 250 workers at its Elkton site, and plans to relocate these employees to the new location.The company plans to make a final decision on the new location before the end of May, and will market the Elkton facility for sale concurrently with the relocation process.
