Dusseldorf, Germany — Europe and North America have ceded their roles as the world’s leading plastics production regions to Asia, according to a report released at the K Show. Asia now produces 31 percent of the plastics produced worldwide, compared to 29 percent in North America and 25 percent produced in Europe. According to the report, by 2010, the amount of plastics produced in Asia is expected to rise to 37 percent of the world’s total, while Europe and North America are expected to produce 28 percent and 25 percent respectively.
