Faced with increasing customer demand, Vancouver-based polyethylene terephthalate (PET) preform producer, Ameriplas Holdings Ltd., has purchased a new injection molding machine capable of manufacturing up to 200 million preforms per year.
The addition of this machine, which will be deployed in the firm’s St. Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que. facility, boosts Ameriplas’ total production capacity by 30 per cent.
“Our customers are growing and they need more preforms,” Ameriplas President Clement Lussier said, in a statement released by the firm on January 12. “In order to keep up with the customers’ demands in the peak season, we need to expand our production volume and this new machine will allow us to accomplish that.”
Construction on the St. Jean-sur-Richelieu plant was finished in 2005.
In 2006, the firm added only one new machine to the facility; however, the machine was dedicated to a single client.
The firm’s primary goal last year was to boost its profitability and pay down debt. The firm says the addition of the new machine in early 2007 will help achieve this goal.
