35 jobs cut by AT Plastics

Specialty film and resin manufacturer AT Plastics (Brampton, ON) has announced job cuts to improve its profitability. The company has been implementing programs to trim costs and enhance operating efficiencies for the past two years, according to a recent press release. Along with these efforts, certain management and operational functions have been reorganized and consolidated, leading to an 8% reduction in the company’s workforce.
That amounts to 35 out of the company’s 420 workers at plants in Ontario and Alberta.
AT Plastics expects to save $3.6 million as a result of the restructuring.
The company also announced that as a result of high raw material costs, it would implement selling price increases on its products in the first quarter of 2003, consistent with the rest of the industry.
