U.S. auto parts molder to open Stratford, Ont. plant

Automotive parts maker Florida Production Engineering Inc. (FPE) will open an injection molding facility in Stratford, Ont. in April 2011.

The Troy, Mich.-based company plans to occupy 65,000 square feet of the former Collins and Aikman plant manufacturing plant, with will hire between 30 to 50 workers during the growth stage of the operation.

FPE will supply parts to Honda in Canada.

The City of Stratford – located approximately 150 km west of Toronto – issued a press release welcoming FPE to town. “This investment is a strong signal that Stratford is a great community to invest in with a highly skilled workforce and a quality of life second to none,” Mayor Dan Mathieson said.

FPE designs and manufactures wheel trim, interior and exterior trim and a variety of industrial plastic structural products. Apart from injection molding, the company also does thin-gauge metal stamping, chrome plating, decorative paint applications and component assembly. The company also makes parts for the aviation, medical, aeronautical and other industrial sectors.
