ABC Group certified as Canada’s first women-owned tier one supplier

Auto parts molder ABC Group Inc. has become the first Canadian tier one supplier to apply for and receive certification as a Women Business Enterprise (WBE) company.

Sponsored by the non-profit organization WECanada, WBE certification is an internationally recognized standard for businesses that are majority-owned (51 per cent), managed, and controlled by a woman, or women.

“ABC Group views WBE certification as an important part of being a global business, as it ensures that we are able to compete for business opportunities from supplier diversity and government procurement programs,” said Helga Schmidt, chairman of the toronto-based ABC Group. “

WECanada is an affiliate of WEConnect International, which has similar certification programs for women business owners in the U.S., Europe, and recently India and China.
