Blue Bell, Pa.-based extrusion equipment supplier Welex Inc. is moving its manufacturing to a new state-of-the-art facility in Greenville, N.C.
“We felt that our current manufacturing facility would not allow us to properly develop [our] extrusion systems in a cost-effective and timely manner,” Frank Nissel, Welex president, said. “The move to Greenville is a perfect blend of ‘smart’ manufacturing space coupled with a location that affords us a better opportunity to reach a far greater number of customers from a more strategically situated facility.”
The new facility in Greenville will be in operation by mid-February, he continued.
The company’s corporate offices, including key management and engineering personnel, will remain in Blue Bell, while a satellite corporate office and meeting facility will be set up in the Greenville plant.
In order to link the two locations, both will be equipped with closed circuit Internet monitoring, web cams and conference capabilities. “We wanted to ensure that we could maintain real-time communications with manufacturing, corporate and customer visits,” Nissel explained.
Welex supplies extruders, co extruders, gear pumps, sheet take-offs and accessories to plastics processors in more than 70 countries.
The company is represented in Canada through Markham, Ont.-based Extrusion Systems Inc. Headed by Brian Otterbein, Extrusion Systems can be contacted at 905-474-1896.
