Poly-Pacific gains access to Kingston, Ont. landfill

Burnaby, B.C.-based plastic blasting media (PBM) and plastic lumber manufacturer Poly-Pacific International Inc. has announced that it has satisfied the requirements set out by the City of Kingston with respect to the McAdoo’s Lane Landfill Site.

The City of Kingston has granted Poly-Pacific a license to access the site in order to assess the feasibility of extracting nylon fibre from the property. The assessment will be conducted under the direction of Angus Ross, M.Sc., P.Eng., and is expected to commence immediately.

“The opportunity to work with the City of Kingston on a nylon reclamation project of this magnitude fulfills the new direction our company has taken in environmental recycling and will be of great benefit to both the City of Kingston and to the shareholders of Poly-Pacific,” said company president and CEO Randy Hayward.

The McAdoo’s Lane Landfill Site is estimated to have an overall volume of one million cubic metres, with an estimated 180,000 tons (360 million pounds) of industrial waste nylon.

Poly-Pacific uses scrap plastic to create MultiCut brand PBM for a range of applications. The company also recycles plastic containers into lumber for the agricultural industry through it s wholly owned subsidiary, Everwood Agricultural Products International Inc.
