The Ontario government has announced plans to fund a $50,000 initiative to identify new business opportunities for the machine, tool, die and mold (MTDM) industry in the Windsor, Ont. area.

The initiative, part of a larger $300,000 overall development plan for the region, follows two recent roundtable meetings between Sandra Pupatello, the provinces Economic Development and Trade minister, and MTDM executives.

Our government is doing everything it can to help the Windsor region succeed, whether its investing in a competitive auto industry or helping local companies find new business in global markets, Minister Pupatello, who is also MPP for Windsor West, said.

Under the initiative, MTDM companies in the area will benefit from hands-on workshop sessions and marketing support to assist them secure new business for instance in the aerospace, oil and gas, transportation and packaging sectors and make improvements in the areas of innovation and productivity, she continued.
