A new study released by The Freedonia Group forecasts a 2.5% annual growth in U.S. plastic pipe demand to 15.5 billion ft. in 2007. This growth will be driven by stricter water management regulations, continued highway and street construction, and the retrofitting of aging or obsolete sewer, drainage and municipal drinking water systems. The study observes that plastic pipe will be in the best position to capitalize on expansion opportunities due to its corrosion resistance, long service life and lower installation costs compared to other materials.
The report contains forecasts to the years 2007 and 2012 for seven competitive pipe materials and eight types of plastic pipe in 14 markets. The report can be purchased by contacting Freedonia Group at 1-800-927-5900.
