Dow wins innovation award (September 24, 2003)

Dow Chemical’s Polyolefins and Elastomers Business Group has been named the 2003 co-recipient of the Product Development & Management Association’s Outstanding Corporate Innovator (OCI) award. This marks the first time in its 27-year history that the PDMA has selected a chemical company for this recognition. The PDMA bestows the award to recognize companies that exemplify the spirit of innovation and demonstrate sustained excellence in the development and commercialization of new products and services.
"While characterized as ‘mature’ about 10 years ago, the Polyolefins and Elastomers Business Group is recognized today as a growth business at Dow," said Stan Jankowski, chair of the OCI award selection committee and president of N.O.V.A. Consulting Co. LLC.
Products launched by Dow over the last five years specifically reviewed for this recognition include Affinity polyolefin plastomers exhibiting high-flow characteristics (1998); Inspire Performance Polymers with high melt strength (2000); Nordel Mg EPDM ethylene elastomers (products of DuPont Dow Elastomers) (2002); and Dow XLA elastic fiber (2002).
The co-recipient of the 2003 award is Harley Davidson. Past winners include BMW Group, Eastman Kodak, Hewlett Packard and Apple computer.
