Canadian firm to sell toys made from recycled plastic

A Waterloo, Ont. toy distributor is making available two new eco-friendly toys made in North America from recycled plastic.

Manufactured by Colorado-based Sprig Toys, the Green Toys line is being sold by Stortz & Associates.

Molded in Midland, Ont. from a material called Sprigwood – a child-safe bio-composite material derives from recycled wood and reclaimed food-grade plastic like margarine containers – the toys use the natural energy of a child’s push-and-pump action play to power lights and other electronics, without batteries.

“As part of our green initiatives, we are actively sourcing toys with North American content,” said Linda Stortz, co-founder of Stortz & Associates. “We fell in love with the Sprig Toys line the moment we saw it, and are proud to have it be our first “Made in Canada” line that features recycled materials.”
